what’s new?
Written by tokidoki ty on June 27, 2009 – 3:25 pm - i guess since even though we have a staff of nine people, i’m the only one that bothers to update >o> i’ll just provide you guys with a little bit of what’s going on recently.
for me @ work
this really quiet girl comes over to my desk and picks up my sebastian (from kuroshitsuji) figurine and says “i just wanted to let you know that this makes you AWESOME.” to which i replied warily “…why’s that?” to which she replies: “because nobody else knows what code geass is!”
i didn’t correct her.
life-size gundam
i don’t know how you can’t have heard of this; it’s almost as big of news as mikey jackson kicking the bucket. but on odaiba island, in japan, there was a “life-size” gundam model built. it stands at 19 meters, or 59 feet tall. it can move its head, it has sound effects, and it lights up at night. this was built for the 30th anniversary of the first mobile suit gundam series.
ponyo on the cliff
the english trailer was released. i’m very impressed and am looking forward to seeing it, honestly. 9/10 times i like the english dub better than the original japanese when it comes to miyazaki films, which NEVER happens concerning dubs for me >o>!!
inuBAKA?!?
just because i’m a fan of the title of this series, i thought i’d mention , that inubaka has a live-action adaptation coming out this fall. that’s it.
beck live action
yes, that’s correct. beck, the manga/anime all about being a super cool rocker, has a live action film coming out, scheduled for fall of 2010. guess who it’s staring? hiro mizushima (absolute boyfriend, anyone?)
kuroshitsuji season 2
has been announced, but no further details.
the vamps to appear @ otakon
this is hyde and k.a.z.’s band (and they’re fucking awesome) and they will be there for a panel & autograph session. yes, as in hyde from l’arc~en~ciel.
eden of the east, two movies?
so the series is over, but there have been two theatrical films announced. eden of the east the movie I: the king of eden will be released november 28, 2009; and eden of the east the movie II: paradise lost will be released january 2010.
new haruhi season!
This is actually Moshi Moshi Meev hijacking this update so I can tell the fanboys about the only anime update they’ve been waiting literally YEARS for, that being the new season of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Yes, it’s finally out. No, I haven’t tried watching, yet. All I know is that now the story’s being continued and Kyoto Animation can make even more money off of all the Haruhi merchandise. … They’ve already gotten my cash with all their cute Nagato figurines. :(

…… silent library?
Written by tokidoki ty on June 20, 2009 – 6:13 pm -okay, so as usual i come home from work the other night at about 12:30am and my sister and her girlfriend are watching some dumb mtv reality show called “OMG I CAN’T BELIEVE SHE’S DATING HIM” or something equally stupid. and i’m watching with no interest and slight anger like… “really? can we watch something that doesn’t make me lose brain cells?”
so my sister responds, “no no no we have to wait until the next show, it’s hilarious” — it turns out the next show is called “Silent Library” a show hosted by some stern-faced chinky japanese dude in which six players have to perform crazy stunts for money while remaining completely quiet. luckily for me my memory served me well, and i remembered watching a youtube clip with tasukete travis and shota sp33n about a japanese show in which it had the same rules. one of the stunts was “old man bites tenderly” … just… just watch:
and then i had the luck of seeing that exact same scene on the american version of the show, which was JUST as hilarious.
but then, and as is always my mistake, i read the comments on the youtube video which consisted of utmost weeaboo bullshit.
“complete bullshit.. bad acting, dont fuck with japan, they are the original. bunch of fuckin hired actors… stupid lame and mainstream brain melting retardedness, so obvious that this is rehearsed . FUCK MTV AND THERE BULLSHIT.”
this show is a sucky remake of true comedy made famous in japan. funny how often this happens. oh wait, no it’s not funny
awesome show
my favorite has to be “don’t fuck with japan” – and i only included the bottom quote “awesome show” because of all the comments, that was the only one with a thumbs down. all the ones saying “this show sucks, remakes suck, japan’s was better” had 2 to 5 thumbs ups, and any that supported the american remake or said anything about the show being funny at all got thumbs downs. DON’T FUCKING SUPPORT AMERICA.
okay okay okay. so the japanese version is the original, i agree with that – but really. no matter what, american or japanese, this is HILARIOUS to watch. i was laughing so hard when i was watching this the other night on mtv. the show definitely looks like easy money, and i’m thinking about trying to weasel some of the weeaboobies into going onto this show with me … >w>

Lay down conversation, you can fell.
Written by deka dosei on June 17, 2009 – 3:13 pm -Many of you chibi nihongoloids missed out on some of the most influential and creative acts. One such act was “industrial gender unit” BLAM HONEY ( myspace ).

BLAM HONEY
( 1995 – 2000, 2008 – ??? )
In 1995 two boys had the same vision of an industrial world filled with electricity, leather, lace and quite a bit of engrish. For 3 years they played lives and gained a following. Shows consisted of Tatsuya singing and on guitar with Ryōnai dancing and putting on quite a spectacle. In 1998 they released Grandiose Delusion, their first album followed by Artificial Delusion ( maxi-single ) and The other side of electronic brain ( single ). The next year they released their second album, Typical Ingeniousness -suggest-, on a major Japanese label. Then they broke up, and I was disappoint.
Eight years later, Blam Honey was resurrected and a memorial album was announced in honor of Tatsuya’s passing. The 3-disc memorial album, Providence of Decadence, will be released in August. Disc 2: "Remix&Cover" may or may not feature a remix I did when Ryōnai held a competition in late 2008. It definitely would be track 14, Myasthenia (REMIX / Tyler Wheeler) if it were to be on the cd >w>!

TATSUYA -Vocals, Guitar, Percussion
( 04.06.xx – 01.06.2004 )
While Tatsuya may not have had the vocal range of Michael Jackson (or the fondness of a little boy’s touch) he was still a great vocalist, and sang from the heart. Not a lot of information is know about Tatsuya, except that he was able to sing while sleeping. In 2004 Tatsuya died of acute leukemia. This knowledge was kept from the public for 4 years until Ryōnai announced the death of his partner and the then planned memorial album in his honor.

RYŌNAI -Acts, Synthesizers, Percussion, Programming
( 03.06.xx – ??? )
Ryōnai’s expert use of programming and synthesizers mixed with his charm and costumes no doubt added to the popularity of BLAM HONEY. Live shows almost always featured Ryōnai dancing and enticing the crowd in a very elaborate costume. Think leather, lace and lots and lots of metal and spikes. In 1996 Ryōnai created a clothing line (with a music project attached) called Suppurate System. He has designed items for Kaya (ex-Schwarz Stein), Mana, Kaoru (Dir en grey), and Közi.

We’re Capable of Social Lives?
Written by moshi moshi meev on June 16, 2009 – 12:26 am -This will be a brief entry, really. I was just lurking the wide world of cyberspace tonight and happened upon one too many reminders that, thanks to the Internet, people like us (as in nerds, geeks, weeaboos, etc.) are able to have a pathetic chance at a social life!
It started when I was browsing and came upon an advertisement for a site called GamerNook. Apparently, it’s Myspace… for gamers, of course. It’s actually in beta right now, so if you want to sign up, go ahead. I took a peek at the first page of members and was almost surprised to see that a lot of them are ladies. I just hope they aren’t ladies who think that “rockin’ out on Rock Band” counts as being a video game nerd…

If you feel as though you are in need of a video game nerd’s social paradise, I think you’ll find GamerNook pretty helpful in that area. Just don’t come crying to me when the girl of your dreams you meet on there turns out to be the average Bella of your dreams. *shot*
The next example of social pariahs slowly taking over the world would be the infamous Cosplay Deviants. If you haven’t visited this site, yet, I am disappoint. I remember lurking it when the site was just starting, and they had a few pictures out on public display. Unfortunately, what remember of the models they had then was that they were largely of the butterfaced variety—but HONESTLY who’s lookin’ at their face, anyway?! Am I right or am I right, fellas? ;D

Regardless, they’ve gotten a lot better with that, mostly through the use of Photoshop, I guess, because I’m looking at some of their first members’ newer “cosplays” and they’re looking a bit cuter (and more obviously blend/smudge tool’d o_o; ). As with most porn sites, this one requires a membership in order to see the nudie pix, but you can see a bunch of previews on their Myspace, which is where I swiped these screenshots from.
If you’re interested in seeing these girls IRL, the ladies of Cosplay Deviant DID help out at Supercon, held in Florida, doing a spin-off of your usual maid/cosplay cafe called the Hentai Cafe. “Hosted by The Cosplay Deviants, The Hentai Café will screen Hentai all night, with snacks being served by the girls of Cosplay Deviants,” says Supercon’s events section. This sounds like something I could get into…

Wait. Is that supposed to be Goku? >_> All right, I am done with you professionally, Cosplay Deviants. DONE. Just… Give me the Naruko picture set and leave. Now. >:|
I’ll move on to my next and final example (although there are plenty more in the dirty crevices of the Interwebs): OtakuBooty. Shouldn’t take too much thought to figure out just what this site is all about, huh? It’s essentially the same as GamerNook, except older and it has its own convention (aptly, and hilariously in my opinion, named Bootycon). While GamerNook may be just a social networking site for some, OtakuBooty is more like a singles site for nearly everyone on there. I mean, it has the word BOOTY in its name, so that really should not have been a surprise to anyone there.

Reportedly, a lot of the members have nudes as their friends only pictures (yes, it’s allowed), so if you’re into lurking strangers’ junk, I can safely say this site is for you.
I really don’t have much to say about this site other than it’s pretty plainly decorated, which isn’t necessarily a BAD thing. It’s better than the thing drowning with naked catgirls wearing thick glasses and bikinis + armor while drawn in that Kyoto Animation moe-blob style— no, stop, never mind. It’d be SO MUCH BETTER. Either way, if the Normals find out about this place, we’re going to get sooo much shit for it. :| Come on, do they have dating sites called BaseballBooty, ChanelBooty, or BeachBooty? Probably not, although now I kind of WISH they did because ending anything in “booty” is the most brilliant idea ever.
So much so that Weeaboobies is now Weeabooty.

What do the Wonder Girls and the Jonas Brothers have in common?
Written by Hazukashi Kly on June 14, 2009 – 2:20 pm -A major US tour! That’s what!

It’s been announced that the Wonder Girls will be joining such acts as Jordin Sparks and Honor Society as openers for the Jonas Brothers on their Summer Tour. It’s true… I’m not lying… WHY WON’T YOU BELIEVE ME?!
Anyway, it really is happening, and I have three issues with this…
1) The Wonder Girls seem really out of their league here… What is JYP thinking on this? “Hey, let me take this Korean girl band who no one in America has ever heard of and put them with the Jonas Brothers and an American Idol winner.” GREAT IDEA, D00D. Not saying either of them are particularly great, but little girls go crazy over them… It’s going to be the Dir en grey tour all over again. The openers weren’t very well known by the crowd, and pretty much the whole time they played the crowd was loudly chanting for Dir en grey (at least this happened at the show in Atlanta.) Poor Wonder Girls don’t even stand a chance..
Oh, and btw… I didn’t know who Honor Society was until I youtubed them while writing this. They’re basically JoBros version 2.0 … only the crappier version that no one buys because the first one works just fine.
2) Before I get to problem number two, I’m going to ask everyone to take a minute to watch the video I’ve posted above if you didn’t already…. Watch it? Good. So, my second problem with this American tour business is the fact that the Wonder Girls simply don’t have a very good grasp on the English language. This would be fine if the girls were planning on singing their songs in Korean, but they’re not. They plan on singing their songs in English. There’s a preview of the English version of ‘Nobody’ here and if that’s any indication of how their English album is going to sound, then I’ll pass…
3) Number three is very simple.. and maybe a little bitchy. I’d like everyone to ask yourself “Who is your typical JoBro fan?” (Besides me, of course… they dress nice. Don’t judge me.) If your answer was a middle school girl who wants to grow up to be just like Miley Cyrus, then you’re probably right. At least that’s what I’m imagining. And frankly, I’d like these girls to keep their grubby little hands off my kpop… Wonder Girls fused with Disney? What’s next!? A Super Junior sitcom on Nickelodeon?! (….I’d watch it…)
Despite everything that I’ve said here, I’m incredibly interested to see how this will play out… The dates that The Wonder Girls will be performing are on their official English site, www.wondergirlsworld.com. Us weeaboobies are planning on heading to the concert in Atlanta! Maybe we’ll see you there?

Shiseidou Beauty Solution Kaihatsu Center Kanshuu – Project Beauty
Written by Sp33n on June 13, 2009 – 11:58 pm -rom #3419

I’m Really Disappointed I didn’t get to play this game.
From what I have researched this game uses the DS camera… to take a picture of one’s face.
Then it takes and and scans the face, and gives you makeup tips.

I had no Idea that was what this was supposed to be until I retried playing it like 3 times, and a warning would come up, saying that something wasn’t plugged into to the GBA slot, and it would power off. This leaving me sad, and wanting to know what the game WAS.
Now that I know what it is, I wonder what it would tell me.

It Really is a shame this didn’t work.
But If I had to Rate it without playing it… I would give it
For non Japanese Speakers without a DS camera : 0
For Those Japanese With DS Cameras: AWESOME??

ty is so jrock.
Written by tokidoki ty on June 13, 2009 – 1:35 am -have you ever just met someone and thought “man… she is so jrock.”
that’s how i feel about myself.
i’m so jrock, that i’m going to talk about a korean hiphop girl band that has stolen my heart. (they’ve a level 15thf, ok? i’m only lvl 12whm, itz not fair.)

the bitch with a mohawk is one sexy motherfucker
you can read the wikipedia, i’m sure. but in case you’re too lazy – in a few words: four girl version of big bang, debut: march 2009. they’ve got some hip beats that make your booty pop. even shota sp33n, who blatantly admits he hates k-music, will tell you how fly these ladies are. by the way, ima fuck minzy, just you wait. i think i just like these galz so much since i just turned 21, and i know it’s secretly a present for my birthday (their name is 21.. to anyone, 2NE1… it’s fate). anyway, the song that i super aishiteru is FIRE, which was just released recently, and they’re also mostly known for the collab they did with big bang lollipop, but let’s move along to my one true love, maya-kun.

let’s just disregard how hot topic goffik they look, ok?
i’m not even going off on a tangent about how hard i would fuck maya, but let’s just make sure that’s a widely known fact. moving right along, lm.c, my one true band, released a new single on may 20, 09 called Punky ♥ Heart (here’s the PV). i’m definitely a fan of the song, let’s just leave it at that. also on the single was Days, which feels like it should be an anime opening… oh wait. it is… whaddya know. it’s the opening song for the hitman reborn DS game (lm.c’s done two anime openings for hitman reborn).
Punky ♥ Heart also features the chill kawaii song-chan “ningyo no namida. if you’re familiar with LM.C, it’s the same kind of feel as the song marble-s.

gazette features five tranny-fierce fagboys that look like shakira and queen latifa
and don’t forget that one douche wearing the chain mail.
i suppose i should also mention a few other note-worthy releases. of course, the gazette (the most jrock of all jrock bands) released a new single (Distress & Coma) on march 09, 09. it’s a standard gazette PV featuring some retarded ballerina. oh jrock, you really love ballerinas. but according to my super jrock ex-boyfriend (i only date jrockers, thx. CALL ME, CELESTINE!) — this video was based on a dream ruki had. all i have to say is… what a douchebag. what a boring dream. ok, so ruki might look like a hot bitch in the video and in this live, but that doesn’t change the fact that uruha is a hot topic gayrocker in tripp pants. anyway, the song itself is also a standard gazette song, in which they still utilize that sweet female vocalist they used in filth & the beauty. (do we see a pattern? “filth & the beauty” – “nausea & shudder” – “distress & coma” — they’re so creative!)
anyway. gazette also has a new album being released on july 15th called Dim. This album will feature seventeen sweet beats. i’m mildy interested, but we’ll see how this goes.

second from the left. stare at him for a good ten seconds.
just take it all in.
you know, i forgot how hip pleather hot pants were until i saw them on sakito (farthest left). see? those are really stylish. nightmare, normally a sugoi band, disappointed me with their sixth full-length album Majestical Parada (here’s a youtube playlist of the album). all of the songs sounded the same, and were very typical nightmare. this album was released may 13, 2009 and features 12 tracks. i don’t even know which one to link to because they all sounded so damn similar, although the first song PARADE did keep me intrigued and hopeful that the rest of the album would be better (in which i was sorely disappointed). they also had a single release on april 29, 2009 called MELODY that is only worth mentioning because it has a somewhat interesting PV. ok, so nothing happens in the pv except you see the band rockin out with their j-cocks out, but what else is new? yomi’s hair looked pretty sweet.

so they look like they always did. but here they are lookin hard rock… (except yuki).
idk if i should be surprised that i liked their most recent EP or not. Harajuku Dance Rock was released on march 13, 2009 and features seven tracks (three of which have pvs) and one of which is the fourth in the “nyappy in the world” songs. it’s very typical ancafe sounding, there’s nothing mind-blowing… but it keeps your interest. as long as you don’t mind miku’s chihuahua voice that is. Summer Dive ~sweet melty PEACH BEACH~ was easily my favorite due to the upbeat poppy sound of it. aroma was one of the other songs on the EP featuring a PV (…they’re going for a hard rock look?) and the final one with a PV is MY HEART LEAPS FOR ‘C’. let me mention another song though, Kawayu’s ЯocК… just … let me quote some of the beautiful poetry of the lyrics. “An OMG-like lie is an infamous see-thru” … yes, miku does literally say “O-M-G” in the song. idk what to think about this.
in conclustion: this EP has a lot of variation, which is definitely a good thing.

SuperLite 2500 Quiz no Tabi – Tetsudou Ryojouhen
Written by Sp33n on June 12, 2009 – 4:43 am -SuperLite 2500 Quiz no Tabi
Tetsudou Ryojouhen
rom # 3420

Alright, so before I even TRIED to somewhat “read” the title to this one, I got it. If I had realized previously that the word “Quiz” was in the title I would have probably been a little more wary.
So I started up the DS, scrolled to the game, read the title… and silently uttered some choice word to myself.
then I started playing…
So, first things first, I get to the menu, pick the top choice (obviously) and then I find myself getting to choose between 3 different girls for some reason (thanks Japan)
so I obviously choose the most attractive one…knowing how the Japanese are kinda perverted…. hoping I’m gonna get to see some H scenes!

I think I chose the middle one :D
Then she takes you into a train… and the game starts.
I mean I guess you probably know… but all these girls want to talk about is trains…
If my little quizzer could hear the things I was asking her, I’m pretty sure that It would have been something like:
“Hey there honey, y’come around here often?”
“WHY HELLO THERE! ARE YOU READY TO GET GOING!”
“Oh! You’re THAT kinda girl.. I really like that in a-”
SCREECH
“oh… you meant for the train to start going…”
“DO YOU KNOW WHAT KIND OF FUEL MOST TRAINS USE?”
“‘ummmm…not really… I’m just gonna go….over there….”
BZZZZTTTTTTTTT!!!!!
“LISTEN YOU BABY-FUCKER! THIS TRAIN ISN’T GOING ANYWHERE UNTIL YOU ANSWER MY DAMN QUESTION!”
“………”
“………..”
“……uh….that kind?”
BZZZT
“that kind?”
BZZZZT
“THAT kind???”
DING
-Train moves to next stop-
“Wow, you are so smart, master, I’ve got another question for you…”
“~Gulp”
These bitches want nothing more than to ask you questions. I don’t even know what the questions were about… cause I don’t speak Japanese.

I just started choosing the first answer every time… and slowly winning
SO now the big payoff for answering all their questions… and getting to the BIG train-station is just a picture of some weird place in Japan?/The World? … Your guess is as good as mine. NO STRIPPING! NO BOOBIES! NOTHING! not even a little peek at areola… just a picture of some weird place to add to your collection…

WTF? REALLY?!?!
If I were to rate this game based on fun content, here’s how I would break it down:
for the Japanese who love trains, and quizzes = 6?
I suppose this game could be fun for those of the native tongue…
who love trains…
maybe.
just not too enjoyable for me.

The Extremely Belated Animazement 2009 Post-Con Wrapup (Part Duex)
Written by Kami-sama Carlton on June 10, 2009 – 2:48 pm -This is part two of two. To go to part one click here.
The other big thing that was happening at the convention was a concert, featuring the Japanese Cosplay band, Uchuu Sentai NOIZ. Essentially they were like a bargain basement version of Psycho Le Cemu, one of my first loves as far as Japanese Music is concerned. This was also a huge deal because NOIZ was probably one of the …”biggest” name bands that Animazement has gotten to come over to the US and play music for a bunch of sweaty retards dressed up like Cartoon characters. However, considering that Uchuu Sentai NOIZ was comprised of the equivalent of sweaty asian men masquerading as super heros, they probably felt right at home amongst the people at Animazement.
Despite the fact that Psycho Le Cemu is way better than Uchuu Sentai NOIZ, I still enjoyed their highly choreographed stage performance, and the fact that their little guitar player could actually play fairly well, assuming they actually played all of their songs. I think the best part of the concert was arguably when NOIZ wasn’t playing music, and their singer, Angel Taka was trying to address the crowd in english. Also, my other favorite parts of the concert included when Angel Taka told everyone in the crowd he was “HORNY” and then in a move that the lonely nerds in the audience were all too familiar with. proceeded to jerk off the microphone to further illustrate his point.

This isn’t Uchuu Sentai NOIZ. I couldn’t find a good picture of them on Google. Just know, Uchuu Sentai NOIZ doesn’t look as cool as Psycho Le Cemu.
Now, the concert was great, the dealers room was humongous and getting to see a bunch of my old friends from previous cons was fantastic, but without a doubt the best part of the convention was playing an awfully intrusive game that we here at WeBo* like to call command ball. As far as the Weeaboobies are concerned, and as far as I myself am concerned, the tradition of playing command ball at Animazement was started when I met all of them, and every year it’s one of the highlights of my con experience, despite the fact that a lot of jealous turds who have their own command balls like to steal, hide, or even pop our command ball. I’ll speak more on that in a minute though.
Command ball is played like this. You take a ball, as big as you can get, and write commands all over it. The ball is then thrown to a complete stranger, and they are asked to catch it, after which they have to perform the command that their index finger of their right hand landed on. The commands are light hearted, but still kind of… irritating to experience and that’s what makes the game fun. At it’s core, Command Ball is an icebreaking game on crack. This year, given the size of our group, and the size of the convention center, our game of command ball was especially awesome. My favorite commands were probably the command we called “Correct Pronunciation.” When that command was selected, the participant of our game had to find another stranger, ask them what their favorite anime was, and then correct them on the pronunciation of it, and no matter what the other person said, even if they were saying the series’ name correctly, they were wrong. It goes something like this:
“Hey, what’s your favorite anime?”
“Me? Uh.. probably Bleach I guess.”
“ACTUALLY IT IS PRONOUNCED BLIATCH”
So, you can see how much fun that was at an anime convention. The other command that holds a special place in my heart is another one of my invention called “Group Repeat.” This command requires someone to find a complete stranger, and strike up a conversation with them. Then, the rest of our group follows behind the player, and repeats everything that the stranger says in response. Four times. So like this:
“Hi, how are you doing?”
“I’m doing fine, thanks.”
“I’M DOING FINE THANKS.”
“I’M DOING FINE THANKS.”
“I’M DOING FINE THANKS.”
“I’M DOING FINE THANKS.”
We were actually doing that command to a guy, and his friends were around him and I think we must have pissed them off, because they then decided to do something really dumb. Another command required the player to Gyrate, while holding a conversation with another person, as if nothing was wrong. Our friend was actually doing that command, when one of the douchefaggots who was friends with the same guy we did group repeat to decided to steal our command ball. This is how that went down.
As you can see from the video, he tries to steal our ball, and then gets his dumb ass tackled to the fucking ground by another pal of ours. Good show. Luckily, no one had the knife we’d been carrying around all day, for various reasons, or I might have tried to stab that guy over a $1.50 beach ball. (which actually popped later that evening, in a completely unrelated event.)
I’m going to leave you all on that note, and say that this year’s convention was a blast, and I remained the champion of Mount Knight Carry, along with Travis for another year. (That’s a lie, because some random girl beat me, but since I don’t even know her name, I going to keep telling people I’m still the champion.)

The Extremely Belated Animazement 2009 Post-con Wrapup (part one)
Written by Kami-sama Carlton on June 10, 2009 – 4:24 am -So here’s a rundown of Animazement 2009, and.. Yes, I do realize how late this is. However, those of you that have issues with my tardiness can suck it. (That’ll be the most anyone’s done for me in months.)
Aaaanyway.
This AZ was a fairly big deal for two reasons. Number one, the brand spanking new Raleigh Convention center would be hosting the convention, as opposed to the Sheraton Imperial in Durham, NC where the convention had been hosted since 2001. The other reason that this year’s convention was such a huge deal is that this year was the first time The Sheraton was the spot where I had my con cherry popped, and the lobby of the Sheraton is where I ran into the assholes that I currently call my closest friends. In the 12 years that the con has been held, it spent 8 of those years in the Sheraton. Needless to say, there was a bit of trepidation at idea of a venue change, and the Raleigh Convention Center had huge shoes to fill.
My first reaction upon getting out of the car on Thursday afternoon was being so incredibly stoked on how absolutely HUMONGOUS the Raleigh Convention Center was. The building itself was very nice, waaaaay too nice for a group of obnoxious Japanophiles to be defiling it with their presence, and I couldn’t stop thinking that the staff at the Raleigh Convention Center had no fucking clue what they had gotten themselves into. Despite this, the convention center staff apparently said that we were the most well behaved group of people to set foot in the convention center, which is slightly alarming to say the least.

Holy. Shit. Really?
There wasn’t a whole lot of stuff happening on Thursday, so the majority of us just hung around outside of the convention center, talking to anyone that wanted to chat. At least 6 of the 15 people with us that weekend were outside until 4:30 the next morning, at which time I and the 5 others with me decided to go and take a dip in the hotel’s salt water swimming pool, which opened at 4:30. On Friday, we just kind of screwed around all day, and we were there pretty much all night.
…
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention something. The Kigurumi. For the majority of the convention, starting on Thursday, most of our crew was decked out in Kigurumi. Kigurumi are ull-body animal pajama with hoods or hats styled after animals. They are worn non-commercially and are another form of Japanese street fashion. (Thanks for that wikipedia.) Our group had 2 foxes, 1 tiger, 1 blue beaver, 1 skunk, and a dragon. What that all boils down to is this: there were 6 morons running around the convention dressed like animals and fairy tale creatures. The first time we walked up to the convention center in the day light, a couple of big tough /b/tards started calling us furries from what they assumed was the relative safety of the patio. Oh how wrong they were.

Call us a furfags one more time. See what happens.

Guys, we are so mind-numbingly fucking cool.

I had a sick death hawk. Hell yes.
On Saturday, the WeBo* camp also took the opportunity to promote the website. The Weeaboobies decided to use Leis to promote, because collectively they have the maturity level of a 12 year old, and could make a bunch of stupid puns about “lei”-ing everyone who was unfortunate enough to receive one of their leis.

This right here? This is the danger-zone and you’re in it. Prepare to be lei’d. 80 times. consecutively.
This concludes part one of the The Extremely Belated Animazement 2009 Post-con Wrapup. Part two of this fantastic voyage will be up some time tomorrow. Don’t crap your pants in anticipation or anything. (Do it, crap your pants. You ain’t real.)
