Highschool of the Dead

Written by moshi moshi meev on July 16, 2010 – 4:07 am -

If you’re not watching this show right the fuck now, you probably should be. Our own Kami-sama Carlton has been a fan of the manga for ages, and apparently even I have read the first volume a while back (I didn’t even realize it until I tried reading it again and was like, “wait, I’ve seen this before :|”), so we’re going to count down a few reasons why this may be one of the hit anime of the summer season.

highschool of the dead 001 Highschool of the Dead

  1. high school girls – remember high school? remember how fine all that jailbait was? wait… you’re still in high school? well then remembering how hard your dick gets for the mean bitch in geometry who sprinkles pencil shavings all over your finely pressed flame-print shirt should be no problem for you.
  2. zombies - while I’m personally not a fan of them as they are essentially overripe old people who’ve escaped from their local Cracker Barrel, the undead are in these days. and you, with your pathetic social record, want to be cool, right? hell, you’re probably one of those losers who thinks he or she would survive a zombie apocalypse and you probably take joy in thinking the mean bitch from geometry will soon be crawling back to your sweaty feet for forgiveness and safety from the zombie masses.
  3. big bouncing boobies - SO MANY GODDAMN JIGGLY TITTIES. if you don’t believe me, you should probably read a few quotes from the director’s interviews yourself.
  4. ???
  5. PROFIT

It’s enough to make you hope for a zombie gangbang or something. Okay, maybe not to that extent unless you’re also a frequenter of gurochan, but I say if you’re reading this, then you must be really bored and in need of a show this season to wait for every week (other than Digimon Xros Wars), and Highschool of the Dead may just be the hole that was made for you—DURRR DURRR DURRR

hollywood meets death note?

Written by tokidoki ty on November 26, 2009 – 3:35 am -

ok, ok, ok. i know it’s “old news” or … been talked about a million times, but this time it’s for real! apparently a hollywood produced death note live action has been thumbs-upped. it’s not going to be released even remotely in the near-future, but there’s two scriptwriters, and three producers already assigned to the movie. nothing really further. the movie was supposedly green-lighted around May of this year, and the interview below was from the past few weeks.
but relating to this, is our dear old boy zac efron. he was asked in a recent interview if he was going to be involved in the movie, cast as light yagami, of course. his response?

“I love Death Note, and we were, kind of, working on it right now. You know, it’s not…it’s definitely not something that would be coming up soon. [Turns to Me and Orson Welles director Richard Linklater] What’s the classic answer, Rick? ‘It’s not on the front burner.’ No, no, it’s something that was … I feel like, regardless of whatever I say, it’s going to be [interpreted by the media to be] my next movie. No, it’s not. It was an idea. Who knows? I had a meeting on it.”

you may hear this for yourself by watching the video below – it begins at about 3:35.

as if I needed more reason to like Hulu…

Written by moshi moshi meev on November 16, 2009 – 10:43 pm -

This is just going to be a really quick entry to inform anyone who hasn’t noticed, yet, that Hulu streams anime. Oh, what’s that? You already knew that and have already blown it off, believing that the only things they’re streaming are old episodes dubbed in English that you’ve already seen ages ago? Well, you’re wrong, bucko. >:U

The (I believe growing) list of anime Hulu has to offer includes the newest episodes of Naruto Shippuden and Inuyasha: The Final Act. Yeah, I didn’t even know they’re airing a new Inuyasha series based on the last 1 million volumes of the manga until I lurked Hulu, that’s how “newsy” this is to me. :| While the episodes aren’t streamed the day after they’re shown in Japan, they are streamed a week after and with subtitles you can trust a little more than SugoiSupaSenseiSubs.* I suggest that if you haven’t lurked around Hulu at all, yet, you should probably start. They do stream English dubbed anime, too, so if you’re more into listening than reading, they’ve got you covered.

*this name is a work of fiction, any resemblance to an actual subbing group is purely coincidental and, quite frankly, sad

New Mahoromatic Special Due…why?

Written by Aishiteru Alec on September 7, 2009 – 10:08 pm -

Mahoromatic0321 New Mahoromatic Special Due...why?

Please excuse any errors or crummy writing, I haven’t written in a while and didn’t have anyone to edit this -_-

In the world of anime, there are a lot of things that deserve another season, a resurrection, a second shot if you will.  When I got news that ecchi maid anime Mahoromatic was getting a new special I was both enthralled and…well…a bit pissed.  As most of the other weeaboobies know, Mahoromatic is my all time favorite show and I most certainly did my fair share of running around and shouting when I found out it was getting a special made.  But as excited as I was, it was bittersweet news.

Mahoromatic is your typical run of the mill ecchi maid series with boobies and panties flying around everywhere.  In complete honesty, although it’s my favorite show, there’s nothing incredibly special about it, until you get to the end of the series.  Mahoromatic ran for two seasons, plus a summer special, and out of everything the show puts out, the show earned infamy by its ending.  I won’t go into too much detail, because I’m usually bad about spoiling things.  But I think anyone whose watched the show will agree that the ending of Mahoromatic was probably the most god awful half-assed piece of poop I’ve ever watched.  It honestly ruined the whole show for me and probably a lot of other viewers out there.

Having said this though, it sparks the question, what the hell, or WHY the hell would anyone want to resurrect such an already putrid and rotting show from the grave after six years?  They already did this once with the summer special that was released after the end of the series.  The summer special didn’t pick up at all from where the ending left off and at least to me, was a smack in the face while still trying to recover from the ending.  I mean, I’m pretty pumped that there’s something new that’s going to come out from Mahoromatic since I haven’t seen anything new for so long.  But I’m willing to bet that it’s going to be something completely irrelevant from the ending once again.

The special is titled: Mahoromatic Special Tadaima – Okaerii, and with no speculations of what the special is going to be about, we can only hope they do the right thing and make a better ending for the series, because lord knows it needs one.  But even those hopes are abruptly crushed with word that mangaka Bow Ditama, the original artist behind the Mahoromatic manga, whose recent works consist of Kissxsis and Fight Ippatsu! Juuden-Chan!! which included an assortment of unnecessary peepee, tentacles and erotic incest would be working on the special,  fans are only left with the sad assumption that the new Mahoromatic special will be as already expected, an ecchi joyride.  And as we will all be smiling gleefully when it finally airs on October 17th, I’m sure that myself, along with other die-hard fans, although enjoying the special with much pleasure, will find a small tear traveling down their cheek in bittersweet disappointment.

Kakashi Gaiden!

Written by moshi moshi meev on July 8, 2009 – 11:41 pm -

After years of waiting (for me, at least ;n; ), this particular arc of the Naruto series is finally being animated. Why is this such “big news”? Well… it isn’t. But since my one truest love of all time is Obito, I figured it was basically my duty to tell you guys all about it.

KakashiGaiden030 Kakashi Gaiden!
Ohh, Obito. *-* The true hero of Naruto.

The Kakashi Gaiden, for those somehow not in the know, was an arc in the manga that revealed Kakashi’s past. It detailed how he got his Sharingan eyeball, how he became the radical dude he is today, and that he actually used to be a little snobby perfectionist, like Sasuke. And since he was the Sasuke of his group, the Naruto was… Obito. Except kind of worse, since he cried a lot and was somehow really, really pathetic until this sidestory that was his little turning point. The Kakashi Gaiden also showed us some more badassery by Minato, aka the 4th Hokage, who happened to be Kakashi and Obito’s team leader.

Anyway, ignoring the fact that all we do is make fun of Naruto, I’d just like to say I’m pretty glad that this little story’s finally going to get its time in the spotlight. *_* It’ll be premiering August 6th according to Viz Media, meaning it’ll probably be out for download the week before. xD
